The San Antonio Spurs managed to get back into the win column after a two-game skid thanks to the efforts of veteran shooting guard Manu Ginobili. His best performance of the 2017-18 NBA season prompted some heavy praise from head coach Gregg Popovich for the ageless wonder.
Ginobili recorded a season-high 21 points to go along with three assists and two steals in a solid 103-89 win over the Phoenix Suns. His stellar outing even has Popovich convinced that Ginobili has found the “Fountain of Youth,” according to the Tom Orsborn of San Antonio Express-News.
“He is something else. Whatever he is drinking, I want some of that. I’m serious. There has got to be a fountain of youth someplace.”

Although Gregg Popovich's comments may seem a bit far-fetched, there was certainly some truth to it on Friday night. It was a relatively quiet game for Ginobili up until the third quarter. However, with the Spurs up by just seven to begin the second half, they engaged in quite an offensive shootout that saw both teams score at least 30 points in the quarter. Although the Suns relied on a somewhat versatile scoring attack, all the Spurs needed was Manu Ginobili.
Needless, to say, the 40-year-old delivered by scoring 15 of his 21 total points in the third before San Antonio was ultimately able to pull away. Perhaps even more impressive is how much Manu Ginobili did in just 19 minutes of play. That said, do not expect Gregg Popovich to rely on the 15-year veteran any more than he already does. Ginobili has averaged a modest 8.9 points and 2.4 assists in 20.8 minutes per game this season.
