The San Antonio Spurs played out what could be said as their worst defense of the season against the New York Knicks, losing 130-118 at Madison Square Garden. Obviously, head coach Gregg Popovich isn't happy about it.

And for everyone asking, here's the clip of Gregg Popovich slapping himself:

The Knicks improve to 12-48 for the season. They're still the second worst team in the league, but a win against the San Antonio Spurs should boost their morale for the rest of the season.

The Spurs allowed the Knicks to score at least 30 points in all four quarters, and they were unable to match the energy and hustle of their opponents. DeMar DeRozan (32 points, nine boards, four assists) got his usual numbers, but he did not get enough help from All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge who's still dealing with an illness.

Six Knicks scored in double figures, led by Damyean Dotson, who finished with 27 points, five rebounds and two assists. Newly acquired guard Dennis Smith Jr. scored 19 points, dished out 13 assists and grabbed six boards. Rookie Kevin Knox also had 19 points to go along with his 10 rebounds and two assists.

Gregg Popovich and his Spurs have now lost two straight and currently has a 33-28 record. They are in danger of falling out of the Western Conference playoff race if they continue to lose games against teams they should beat. They are now tied with the LA Clippers for the seventh spot in the standings.

New York, on the other hand, is just playing this season out. They will be major players in this summer's draft and free agency, as they are expected to land a top three pick and have enough cap room to sign two players to max deals.
