San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich did not hide his displeasure for the so-called anti-vaxxers, specifically for the COVID-19 vaccine.

After answering questions about his team's impressive 119-109 victory over the Denver Nuggets at AT&T Center on Friday, Pop directed his ire to people still questioning the effectiveness of the vaccine, via Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News.

“We are in dire circumstances. It’s kind of amazing to me that there’s a swath of our population that still doesn’t believe that. But somebody a whole lot more incisive and smarter is going to have to figure that one out.”

“If we can do our part in any way in making people feel comfortable that getting this shot is wise both for them and everybody else around them, I think we need to do it,” he added.

As he turned 72 years old on Thursday, Gregg Popovich partnered with NBA Cares to release a PSA about the importance of getting the vaccine. He became the first recipient from the NBA to get the vaccine shot and encouraged others to follow his lead. Since he is the oldest coach in league history, the multi-titled tactician is among those in the high-risk category to contract the deadly virus.

Older coaches and staff around the league are currently the ones being prioritized, but it is expected that the vaccine will soon be available for all players. The NBPA already claimed that they won't make the vaccine mandatory, but encourages everyone to consider getting the shot. Gregg Popovich, meanwhile, is one of the most respected figures in the league. He is indeed the perfect ambassador for the COVID-19 vaccine.
