Whatever the outcome for the San Antonio Spurs this season, don’t count out the possibility of seeing legendary Argentinian baller Manu Ginobili in the 2018-19 campaign. For one, he is guaranteed by a contract to have a job next season. In addition, Ginobili denied rumors himself that he would not be around the NBA anymore next season, per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.
As a side note, someone last night told me #Spurs' Manu Ginobili said this would be his final season, which I didn't remember hearing. I asked him about it after the game & he denied ever saying that. Sounded like he could be in line to suit up next year as well.
Ginobili, who saw action in 26 minutes and scored just four points in a 113-110 loss to the L.A. Clippers at Staples Center on Tuesday, is currently playing on the first season of the two-year $5 million contract he signed with the Spurs last year. His game has greatly diminished over the past few years given his age, but the 40-year-old veteran remains a valuable asset for the team mostly because of his experience and ability to still contribute, albeit in minimal minutes. So far this season, Ginobili is averaging 8.6 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.1 rebounds in 20.0 minutes per game.

For now, Ginobili’s focus is on helping the Spurs secure a guaranteed spot in the playoffs in order for the team to extend its impressive streak of postseason appearances that dates back to the 1990’s.
San Antonio currently sits fifth in the Western Conference standings with a 45-33 record as of this writing.
