Gregg Popovich met with Kawhi Leonard just over a week in hopes that the San Antonio Spurs and Leonard could get on the same page and that the relationship could be repaired. How the meeting went is a mystery and nothing really came away from it good or bad. Now it appears that the meeting must not have gone great, because according to Marc Stein of The New York Times, the Spurs are ready to move on from Leonard.

This is a big change from a few weeks ago when the Spurs still seemed like they were going to do everything in their power to try and work it out.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Spurs are now fully engaged in trade talks with both the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Celtics seem like they could be the more likely trade target for a few reasons. They have more assets than the Lakers have, and they have seemed more willing to give up a young star like Jaylen Brown to get a deal done. They also are in the Eastern Conference so the Spurs wouldn't have to compete against Leonard in the Western Conference playoff race.

The Spurs are still in complete control of this situation because they don't have to trade Leonard. They can still offer Leonard the most money, and there is still a chance that the relationship could be repaired, but right now it appears that the most likely option is Leonard playing for a different team next season.
