During Butler's exclusive interview with Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune, the conversation got to the upcoming All-Star game in Los Angeles. Zgoda then asked his thoughts about getting outvoted by Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball, who had 607,961 votes — 278,000-plus more than Butler.

Q: Do you care Lonzo Ball ranked above you in All-Star Game fan balloting?

A: I don’t give a damn. To tell you the truth, I don’t even want to play in the All-Star Game. I pride myself on guarding and playing hard. Like, leave me out of it.

Q: Yeah, there’s no place for those things in the All-Star Game, is there?

A: No, I’m cool. Let me go on vacation with DeAndre Jordan or something like that. That’s what I was planning

It might be safe to assume that Jimmy Butler is going to get some bad news in the coming days. He and his buddy from the L.A. Clippers, DeAndre Jordan, won't be able to go on a trip during the All-Star weekend.

The 30-18 Minnesota Timberwolves, who are surprisingly third in the Western Conference standings, have shown great improvement from last year, thanks in large part to Butler's leadership and all-around play. He's also putting up 21.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game — there's no way he gets passed up as a reserve.
