The 24-14 Minnesota Timberwolves, for a good stretch this season, have underachieved. Despite being clear winners back in the summer with a rich haul of new players, the Timberwolves have been battling inconsistency. That does not seem to be the case anymore for the team, as they have gone 7-1 over their last eight games, a stretch that includes Minnesota’s 114-96 win against the Los Angeles Lakers Monday.

Life in the Western Conference is hard, and it gets even harder when teams have their players struggle to be on the same page, so it must be very nice for Minnesota to see their talented roster finally get it together.

If we are looking for a single Timberwolves player, however, to help explain the team’s turnaround, it’s got to be shooting guard Jimmy Butler, who appeared to have flipped a switch.

Butler is averaging 21.5 points per game, but over his last eight games, he has managed to step up even more, putting up 28.8 points on 53.7 field goal shooting percentage over that span. Butler and the Timberwolves will have to keep it up with starting point guard Jeff Teague out for a while with a knee injury.
