Nick Nurse and Taylor Jenkins have been named the NBA's Coaches of the Month for January.
Nurse and the Toronto Raptors had a record of 12-3 in January, while Jenkins and the Memphis Grizzlies went 11-4.
The Raptors are looking to shock the world this season and repeat as NBA champions despite the losses of Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green. For that to happen, Serge Ibaka, Kyle Lowry, Marc Gasol and Pascal Siakam will have to play the best basketball of their respective careers once the playoffs start.
The Raptors are 36-14 on the season. They are in second place in the East and have won 11 games in a row.
The Grizzlies have been a great story this season. No one picked Memphis to make the playoffs before the season started, yet the Grizzlies are 24-25 and sitting in the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings. Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. have been special all season, and the future looks extremely bright in Memphis with Jenkins and his staff leading the way.
Morant will probably win NBA Rookie of the Year this season. He's averaging 17.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 7.1 assists in 43 games while shooting 49.1 percent from the field, 38.9 percent from beyond the arc and 77.9 percent from the free-throw line.
