Despite numerous high-caliber wins, shooting guard Danny Green doesn't think his NBA-leading Toronto Raptors are the best in the league just yet.

“We may have the best record but I don't think we're the best team in the league, or even in the East right now,” Green told Adam Zagoria of Forbes SportsMoney. “We have to be more mature. We have to be more professional in taking every game serious.”

To be somewhat fair to Green, he made these comments before the Raptors' convincing victory without Kawhi Leonard over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night. The Raptors also beat the defending champions earlier this season up in Toronto, though the Warriors were missing several key players.

Still, the Raptors have consistently dominated throughout the early part of the season. And now they have just pulled off two bar-measuring wins against two key opponents in the Western Conference without Leonard in the lineup, smoking the Los Angeles Clippers by 24 points on Tuesday and coming right back to throttle the Warriors by 20 on Wednesday.

The Raptors are now 7-1 without Leonard in the lineup, as point guard Kyle Lowry has managed to be the driving force of this roster in his absence. Green knows there's still a long way to go, however.

“We still have to work our way, it's not like anything's going to be given to us,” Green said. “Milwaukee made a big move [by adding point guard George Hill in a trade]. Boston's always good, they're figuring it out with everyone healthy. Philly's good. Even Indiana. There's still teams in the East that have gotten stronger and better.”

Even Kevin Durant, following defeat, said the Raptors are no longer an up-and-coming team, but they have indeed arrived with a mix of hungry young players and proven veterans.

Green, one of the two with championship experience, knows it's better to keep his expectations leveled before making his mark when it counts, still four months away from an Eastern Conference playoff series that can't come soon enough.
