For the fourth time in his prestigious Toronto Raptors career, star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan is headed to the NBA All-Star Game. For the 2018 edition in Los Angeles, he will be a starter on Golden State Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry's team. DeRozan will also likely have to play against his head coach in Dwane Casey, who will be a coach on Cleveland Cavaliers superstar forward LeBron James' team.
According to a series of tweets from Raptors beat reporter Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports, DeRozan opened up about being teammates with Curry.
“It'll give me an opportunity to try to be a splash brother with Steph,” DeRozan said on Friday.
Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry, who is also on Team Stephen as a reserve for the 2018 All-Star Game, joked around and told Doug Smith of the Toronto Star earlier this week that he'd better be on the same team as DeRozan.
“I don’t know who it is, but I’m going to send a couple of text messages out and say I don’t care what y’all do, but y’all better make sure me and him are on the same team,” Lowry said.
As for DeRozan potentially going up against his own head coach, he said that he's definitely going to be talking smack.

“I'm going to talk trash to him for sure,” DeRozan said of coach Casey. “That's why I want him to be in there so I can talk trash to him on the sideline.”
Coach Casey, what is your response to this?
“We're going to go at DeMar if that's the case,” coach Casey said of his star shooting guard.
The game between Team James and Team Stephen, which will be held at Staples Center, is scheduled for Feb. 18.
