Toronto Raptors fans are excited to be part of history as they have already lined-up at Jurassic Park and will be literally staying there until Game 5 of the NBA Finals tips off on Monday, according to a report from The Canadian Press.
The Raptors lead the series against the Golden State Warriors, 3-1, and a win on Monday will lead to the franchise's first-ever NBA championship.
It is something that Raptors fans have been waiting for years. The Raptors have been one of the best teams in the East for several seasons, but they haven't been able to get past the conference finals. People had to endure heartbreak after heartbreak.
But this season, the Raptors made a significant change. They traded long-time team member DeMar DeRozan to the San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard. Initially, it was a move that was disliked by some people as the latter was coming off a serious injury. But after Kawhi led them to the second-best record in the conference, there was, once again, hope.
Article Continues BelowThe fans' faith in the Raptors was tested several times in the playoffs. They lost the series opener of the first round against the Orlando Magic, before coming back and beating them in five games. In the second round, they had to endure a Philadelphia 76ers team that almost beat them in Game 7. If it wasn't for that buzzer-beater by Kawhi, who knows what could've happened?
Then in the East Finals, they faced the league-leading Milwaukee Bucks, who owned homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs. The Raptors lost the first two games of the series, and at that point, it seemed that they were headed for another painful elimination. But Leonard willed the team back into the series. They won the next four games and advanced to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history.
This is the first time in the postseason that fans really had a chance to be comfortable, as the Raptors have dominated the Warriors through the first four games.
One more win and it will be pandemonium in Toronto.
