Since Kyle Lowry joined the Miami Heat in the offseason, Fred VanVleet has truly become the main guy for the Toronto Raptors.
Despite an unheralded lineup and playing without injured All-Star forward Pascal Siakam, VanVleet has led the Raptors to a 6-3 record, their latest victory notched on Wednesday night against the Washington Wizards. FVV finished with 33 points on 13-of-22 shooting, three rebounds, and six assists.
Apparently, Lowry was watching closely and gave a shoutout to his former teammate. VanVleet promptly responded, probably making Raptors fans shed collective tears and Drake reminisce about the glory days (via FAN950's Blake Murphy).

As VanVleet said (with a funny and sarcastic tone to it), Lowry had a strong game in the Heat's win over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night. The veteran playmaker had a season-high 22 points on top of five rebounds and nine assists, registering his best game with the Heat so far.
It's no secret that Lowry took FVV under his wing during their time together with the Raptors, resulting in an NBA title in 2019. One could say that it was VanVleet's welcoming party, holding his own against Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry on the biggest stage. Of course, Lowry had a huge hand in it.
Lowry and VanVleet, however, will have to wait a bit before they play against each other for the first time as the Raptors and Heat won't meet until January.
