Will the fact that the Toronto Raptors have made the NBA Finals be enough to convince Kawhi Leonard to re-sign with the team in free agency this summer?

Jay Williams doesn't think so.

On ESPN's “Get Up!” on Monday morning, Williams said that he thinks Leonard will leave Toronto even if the Raptors end up beating the Golden State Warriors for the championship:

A report surfaced late last week that Leonard was now leaning toward re-signing with Toronto on a short-term deal, but many, including Williams, are still skeptical.

Ever since the Raptors acquired Leonard in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs last summer, the general consensus has been that it was only for a one-year run, as most feel that Leonard will leave Toronto for the Los Angeles Clippers in July.

As a matter of fact, rival clubs were hesitant to trade for Leonard last offseason due to the fear that he could walk after just one season.

In 60 games with the Raptors during the 2018-19 regular season, Leonard averaged 26.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.8 steals over 34.0 minutes per game while shooting 49.6 percent from the floor, 37.1 percent from 3-point range and 85.4 percent from the free-throw line.

He has been even better in these playoffs, registering 30.9 points, 9.1 boards, 3.9 assists and 1.5 steals across 38.9 minutes a night while making 49.6 percent of his field goal attempts, 38.1 percent of his long-distance tries and 88.3 percent of his foul shots.

The Finals are tied at one game apiece. Game 3 will be at Oracle Arena on Wednesday night.
