Toronto Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas has made his summer yet another basketball endeavor as part of the Lithuanian national team and his participation proved key during Wednesday's friendly game against Croatia.

The big man was part of a warmup series prior to EuroBasket 2017, missing a pair of key free throws as Croatia's Dario Saric fouled him with an 82-20 lead and no time left on the clock. Valanciunas missed both freebies, squandering a potential overtime chance and finishing with 12 points and 11 rebounds (six offensive).

Valanciunas suffered an ankle injury, which looked grave at first as he yelled in pain only to go back in later in the game, according to Donatas Urbonas of 15min.

The seven-footer was limping upon his return but played the remainder of the game, a sigh of relief for the Raptors and his national squad.

His short rest after coming back to the game was filled with massages from the team physiotherapist, but it was likely to be merely preventative as the swelling didn't prove enough to keep him off the hardwood during this exhibition game.

Valanciunas hasn't tapped into the potential that the Lithuanian national team had first envisioned for him, failing to become the dominant force as one of the most prominent athletes from the country. His mettle will be put to the test at the start of EuroBasket on Aug. 31 where a slate of six games tip-off the event.
