Don't be surprised if, despite the stakes of the NBA Finals, the Toronto Raptors' most famous super fan is a bit more subdued than he's been throughout the playoffs. According to ESPN's Michelle Steele, the league office spoke with the Raptors about Drake's recent antics from his courtside seat at Scotiabank Arena.

The NBA spoke to the Toronto Raptors during the Eastern Conference finals about Drake's activity and presence on the sideline, a league spokesman told ESPN.

ESPN also notes that Drake was given a warning by the league during last year's playoffs for a postgame confrontation with Cleveland Cavaliers center Kendrick Perkins. In the past several years, the world-famous musician also drew criticism from the NBA for openly recruiting players from opposing teams, sometimes from the concert stage, which is a violation of league rules given his official role as Toronto's global ambassador.

Drake has been especially noticeable at Raptors games during the 2019 playoffs, as his beloved team trekked its way to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history. He gave an impromptu shoulder rub to Toronto coach Nick Nurse during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals, and was later criticized by both Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and coach Mike Budenholzer for his courtside conduct.

A notorious frontrunner when it comes to sports fandom, Drake has aligned himself with the Golden State Warriors since the rise of their ongoing dynasty four years ago, frequently name-dropping players in songs and even getting tattoos of the jersey numbers of Steph Curry and Kevin Durant. Considering the Warriors' opponent in these NBA Finals, though, it's safe to say Drake will be rooting against the defending champions.
