With the 2019 NBA Finals a few days away, it was time for the customary media availability for both teams on Tuesday. Though Serge Ibaka of the Toronto Raptors might’ve stolen the show with his discussion of trash-talking and/or “fighting” with Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry of the Warriors also provided some interesting comments.
Curry was quoted by Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports talking about the atmosphere in Toronto after the Western Conference Finals.
Steph Curry, honorary Torontonian, on the Raptors making The Finals: "The city was going crazy. It looked like they had won the championship already… There's a lot of passion up there for the game of basketball, for the Raptors, and you can tell how much it meant." pic.twitter.com/0EGsOAUeVq

As you can see, Curry is happy about the Raptors getting their first chance at a championship, though of course, he would prefer winning his fourth ring as a member of Golden State. In the above quote, however, Curry slides in a rather subtle dig, calling out the Raps for potentially just being happy to be in the Finals – and not focused on winning it all.

However, that might just be reading too much into it, as with noted Playoffs performer Kawhi Leonard now on Toronto, the Raps will definitely be the toughest team the Warriors have faced all postseason.
Curry also showcased his “student of the game” persona and showed off his NBA pedigree by quoting a few names on the late 1990s Vince Carter-led Raptors team that fell one game shy of making it to the NBA Finals – a team that featured Curry’s father, noted sharpshooter Dell Curry.
No matter what, it will be an entertaining series, with Curry and Leonard duking it out – especially with Kevin Durant out for Game 1 of the series.
