DeMar DeRozan's connection with hip-hop star Drake runs deep. When news broke out that DeRozan was being sent to the San Antonio Spurs, he immediately went to Drake's house and talked for hours.

Speaking with Chris Haynes of ESPN, DeRozan went all out with his feelings about the shocker of a trade which sent him away from Toronto — his home for the last nine years. He confessed that when the news broke out, he went to Drake's house for solace:

Yeah, day it came out, I went to Drake's house. Me and him sat and talked for a couple of hours. Not even on some hoops stuff. Just to hear the words that come from him being the person that he is in this world, especially in Toronto. What I meant to this city. It was what I needed.

Drake, a Canadian himself, has been the face and foremost global ambassador of the Raptors and the country itself. Masai Ujiri, Raptors president, even tagged Drake as the King of Toronto, per NBA.com:

“We can't do it any better than The King of Toronto,” Ujiri said of Drake. To have somebody special like this for us I think is huge. We appreciate all the support, all the support from the fans. We have to make Toronto – we have to – we have to make Toronto the best atmosphere in the NBA. And it's becoming the best atmosphere in the NBA. I can't wait to go to every single Raptors game, and we're damn proud of it.”

But now that DeMar DeRozan will be heading to the Spurs, will his friendship with Drake continue to remain intact? It appears so.
