Utah Jazz sensation Donovan Mitchell has earned another feather on his cap. This time around, the 21-year-old has been selected as the most influential sportsman in Utah.
Mitchell has been quite busy this summer. If he's not out there doing random acts of kindness, the incoming sophomore is getting recognitions such as this one from The Salt Lake Tribune.
This is quite a feat for the 6-foot-3 guard who incredibly burst into the Utah sports scene last year. Mitchell sits atop the Top 25 List and is only one of two Utah Jazz players recognized; the other being his teammate Rudy Gobert who is ranked at number eight.
Interestingly, it was actually Gobert who was given the honor last year. However, the impact of Mitchell has understandably driven the big man down a few notches. Not that the reigning Defensive Player of the Year would mind, we presume.
Mitchell was deemed to have more influence than other notable personalities in the Jazz organization. This includes general manager Dennis Lindsey at number two, head coach Quin Snyder at three, franchise owner Gail Miller at f our,and team president Steve Sarks at nine.
Mitchell is undoubtedly proud of this recognition, as it speaks volumes of how the Utah sports press perceive him. Nonetheless, we are also sure that for the former Louisville standout, team accomplishments outweigh personal accolades.
Mitchell is certainly itching for the new season to tip off, as he hopes to lead his Jazz to greater heights this year.
