The Utah Jazz finally made the long-anticipated move that many believe has them poised for legitimate championship contention next season. Just because Donovan Mitchell is thrilled about his team adding Mike Conley, though, hardly means the Jazz's young star is above a little good-natured ribbing about the surprisingly frequent confusion between the state of Utah and Salt Lake City.

Shortly after the trade was reported, Conley posted a tweet thanking the Memphis Grizzlies and the city of Memphis for making him “the man he is today,” also expressing excitement about giving all he has to the Jazz and the “city of Utah.” Just one problem: Utah is one of America's 50 states, and it's home to Salt Lake City, where his new team plays.

Mitchell wasn't the first to correct Conley's mistake, but it's safe to say his reply drew even more attention to it.

Conley, of course, quickly amended the gaffe before deleting his original tweet

Utah agreed to trade Grayson Allen, Jae Crowder, Kyle Korver, the No. 24 pick in Thursday's draft, and a protected future first-round pick to Memphis in exchange for Conley. League rules prohibit the trade from officially being completed until July 6. Due to the unbalanced financial parameters of the trade, the Jazz will have to acquire Conley into cap space, but will still have the ability to retain Derrick Favors, who's salary is non-guaranteed for next season.

In a wide open Western Conference, Utah suddenly has as good a chance any other team to play for the Larry O'Brien Trophy. Either way, Conley will have no doubt learned by next June how exactly his new city fits into the state of Utah.
