Donovan Mitchell’s rapid maturity into a primary NBA player reportedly gave the Utah Jazz added urgency to acquire Mike Conley from the Memphis Grizzlies, according to Tony Jones of The Athletic.
The Jazz were in dire need of another dynamic scorer next to Mitchell. Utah wasn't going to make noise in the Western Conference with Ricky Rubio as the team's starting point guard.
Now, the Jazz have two players in Conley and Mitchell who can score 20-plus points with ease on a nightly basis. We also can't forget about Rudy Gobert, who is arguably the best defensive center in the league.

Although his efficiency went down in 2018-19, Mitchell averaged 23.8 points per game. Teams won't be able to load up on him now that the Jazz have Conley, who is a better scorer and shooter than Rubio.
Conley put up 21.1 points and 6.4 assists with the Grizzlies this past season. The lefty shot 43.8 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from beyond the arc and 84.5 percent from the free-throw line. The Jazz can now make a run to the NBA Finals with Conley in the fold, especially since the Golden State Warriors are going to be without Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant for likely all of next season.
