Rudy Gobert is in full support of Mike Conley leaving the NBA bubble for the birth of his son, even if it means the Utah Jazz will be missing a key player when they face the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the 2020 NBA playoffs.
Conley left the Disney bubble on Sunday and immediately flew to Columbus, Ohio to be with his wife, just a day before the playoffs begin. The Jazz guard is expected to return at some point in the playoffs, but he'll likely miss the first two games against the Nuggets or possibly longer since he needs to quarantine when he returns.
Despite the departure though, Gobert backed his teammate's decision to prioritize his family over anything else. The two-time Defensive Player of the Year also vowed to hold down the fort until he returns.
There is nothing more important in life than welcoming your little ones to this world. Congrats brother we will hold it down for you! 🙏🏽✊🏽 @MCONLEY10

While Rudy Gobert understands Mike Conley's situation, there's no doubt that the untimely exit affects Utah's chances against the Nuggets. After all, Conley was starting to get his groove with the Jazz after he joined them last summer, putting up 18.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in the six seeding games he played in.
In his absence, the Jazz will have to rely more on Jordan Clarkson to pick up the slack. All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell will also have to take his game to the next level, considering that playoff basketball is a different beast.
It remains to be seen how the Jazz will respond to the challenge, but at least fans know that Gobert is up for it.
