Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell will make his return to the court on Wednesday for Game 2 against the Memphis Grizzlies. This will come after plenty of drama involving his return, which saw him upset that he was ruled out by the Jazz for Sunday's Game 1 loss.
According to The Athletic's Sam Amick and Tony Jones, Mitchell was cleared for Game 1 by his own medical team after looking good in several days of practice. He and his teammates expected him to suit up as of Sunday morning. But Utah's medical staff wouldn't let him play out of an abundance of caution, resulting in his frustration and jabs on social media.
What reportedly made Mitchell even more frustrated is the fact that he thought he was going to return in the regular season. Already upset with that delay, missing a playoff game then sent him over the edge, even if the Jazz were just looking out for his long-term health. It's understandable for a competitive guy like Mitchell to be upset over missing a playoff game when you think you can play. It's even worse given the Jazz getting upset in Game 1.

We know there was drama with Mitchell and Rudy Gobert last year due to COVID-19, but Utah got over it this season by dominating the regular season from the start and earning the best record in the NBA.
Winning doesn't always cure all, but it does in a lot of cases. Mitchell and the Jazz will try to put this mishap behind them and take out the Grizzlies as expected.
