The Golden State Warriors unexpectedly went down at home to the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night. But in the 10 games prior they had gone 9-1 even without star point guard Stephen Curry. Warriors guard Shaun Livingston believed their impressive record sans Curry shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise to anyone.
Shaun Livingston on the Warriors going 9-1 without Curry: “It was expected, to be honest.”

Considering Curry himself predicted the Warriors would go through the entire month undefeated even though he’d miss most of that time, it probably should have been expected that they would continue to roll even without their two-time MVP.
Of course, Golden State is the team best-equipped to lose a two-time MVP and still be close to unbeatable. That’s because they still have three other All-Stars, not to mention another MVP-caliber player in Kevin Durant in reserve, and KD certainly delivered in Curry’s absence.
Durant averaged an impressive 28.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2.8 blocks in the 11 games with Curry out of the lineup.
The Warriors’ favorable schedule during that time also played a big part in their success. Eight of their 11 games without Curry were at home, although both of their losses curiously came at home.
As good as the Warriors looked without Curry, they should be even better now that they have his prodigious shooting back in the lineup, and it'll be up to the rest of the league to stop them.
