Bad news for the Memphis Grizzlies: Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry is likely to play his first game back from an ankle injury tomorrow night.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has expressed optimism that Curry is finally going to play on Saturday which would be the sharpshooter’s first game since suffering a nasty ankle injury during a win against the New Orleans Pelicans back in Dec. 4.

Curry has missed nine games since then, but thanks in large part to the elevated play of Warriors forward Kevin Durant, the defending NBA champions are able to weather the two-time MVP’s absence. The Warriors have gone 8-1 since Curry got sidelined and could make it 9-1 if they could beat the Charlotte Hornets tonight.

In any case, having Curry back means that the Warriors are just going to be a deadlier team, especially on offense. The Warriors enter the Charlotte game averaging 114.9 points per game – the best mark in the NBA right now. In the last nine games they played without Curry, however, the Warriors have only mustered 106.3 points per game, though, Golden State also missed some other key players like Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala during that stretch

On the season, Curry is averaging 26.3 points and 6.6 assists on 32.7 minutes per game.
