The Washington Wizards are still, barely, clinging on to a chance to make the Eastern Conference Playoffs. According to FiveThirtyEight, the Wizards currently sit with a 12 percent chance to eke into the East, despite being a whopping 12 games under .500 as of this writing with a 35-47 record. However, the team does boast one of the best scorers in the NBA in Bradley Beal, a lethal shooter and the go-to bucket-getter for the Wizards.

Per Basketball Reference, Beal is 4th in total points in the NBA at 1651 and 11th in points per game at 25.8 behind many of the brightest stars in the league such as James Harden, Paul George, Stephen Curry, LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Perhaps one of the reasons why Beal scores so much is because he is always moving without the basketball, something Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype outlined in a recent Tweet:

As you can see, Beal tops the list for most miles run per game in the 2018-19 NBA season. The list is a murderer’s row of the best scorers and shooters in the NBA, with Jrue Holiday, Buddy Hield, CJ McCollum and Zach LaVine rounding out the top 5.

For most of those players, much of that action is on offense, where their shooting gravity warps defenses. In Holiday’s case, he likely extends a bit more energy on defense, where he is regarded as one of the best guard defenders in the NBA.

Just beyond the top 5 are big names like Curry, George, Tobias Harris, Klay Thompson and Kawhi Leonard – showing that movement on offense is a fairly good indicator of overall effectiveness on that end.

The Wizards might not make it to the Playoffs this season, but the team can be safe in the knowledge that Beal is an offensive stud that can carry the team – with or without John Wall.
