Washington Wizards center Dwight Howard says his body “feels amazing.”

Howard only played in nine games this past season for the Wizards because of a back injury which required surgery. It was the second back surgery for Howard, who will turn 34 in December.

The former star center opted into his 2019-20 player option with Washington. Howard will make $5.6 million next season.

In the nine games he appeared in for the Wizards in 2018-19, Howard averaged 12.8 points and 9.2 rebounds while shooting 62.3 percent from the field. He hasn’t been the same player since he requested a trade from the Orlando Magic.

It’s actually been sad to watch Howard's demise in the NBA. The eight-time All-Star has played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets and Wizards since his prime days with the Magic ended.

The Wizards will be without All-Star point guard John Wall for most, if not all, of the 2019-20 season. Wall is recovering from heel and Achilles surgery. Washington is hoping Howard and Bradley Beal can lead the team back to the postseason. The Wizards missed the playoffs this past season.

Howard isn't a star anymore, but he's still an effective big man when healthy. Hopefully, Dwight can stay on the court next season.
