The Washington Wizards have been on one hell of a roll to close the NBA season, and they are suddenly looking like dark horse candidates to make this year's play-in tournament and survive it. This streak was capitalized on Friday night as they demolished the young, feisty, but hapless Oklahoma City Thunder, 129-109.
Washington was led by the usual suspects: Bradley Beal scored a clean 33 points, while Russell Westbrook had one of his now usual triple-doubles with 37 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists on the night. Yikes.
In typical Brodie fashion, Westbrook found his own unique way to celebrate the Wizards win and talk rub salt on the wound of the young Thunder. Check it out:

If you think that Russell Westbrook is too high-minded to talk trash to one of teams in the NBA in the middle of a blowout, you would be wrong. Westbrook is explosiveness and pettiness personified, and it is so satisfying to watch him let off steam in either area.
But to Westbrook himself, it wasn't even that big a deal. Maybe fans will remember Friday's blowout for this particularly funny moment, but to hear the Wizards guard speak on it, it was just another day at the office:
Russell Westbrook on why he kicked the ball under the basket, which caused a delay of game: "I wasn’t frustrated. Just doing Russell things."

The Wizards (26-33) now sit at the outer edge of playoff contention with the 10th seed in the East, and they are within striking distance of the 9th-seeded Indiana Pacers. Keep an eye on this team because they are in the middle of a truly magical run.
