Four-star defensive lineman Jaylen Williams committed to the Wolverines on Monday, and Michigan is hoping that the commitment helps them get the ball rolling with recruiting this summer. Recruiting has been surprisingly quiet for the Wolverines this offseason despite winning a national title, but it looks like things are picking up. Michigan recently hosted four-star EDGE Julius Holly for an official visit, and it went well.

After winning a national title, recruiting typically picks up, but after losing a head coach, it often trends in the opposite direction. The Michigan football team is going through both right now. Sherrone Moore is the new head coach for the Wolverines, and he is hoping to land some more commitments soon. Julius Holly could be one of them.

Holly is a big fan of what he seen from Michigan on the football field, but one thing that really attracts him to the school is the academics. Michigan is one of the best academic schools in the country, and that's important to Holly.

“I would say they are a top school for me,” Holly said, according to a tweet from The Wolverine. “They already were going into the visit. What intrigues me most is the academic aspect. They are ranked high, especially in engineering, which is what I want to go into. They mesh together good academics and good football.”

It sounds like Julius Holly enjoyed his official visit with the Michigan football team, but the Wolverines are competing with other big schools to land his commitment. The most notable is Georgia. Ole Miss and Texas A&M are also teams to watch, but Holly also has offers from big schools like Oklahoma, Penn State, Michigan State and Tennessee. Michigan is facing some stiff competition.

Holly is a four-star recruit according to 247 Sports, and he is the #300 player in the 2025 class. He is the #22 EDGE in the 2025 class and the #38 player in the state of Georgia. He currently attends Alpharetta High School in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Landing Holly will be a tough task for Michigan as Georgia, one of the top teams in the country, is so close to home for the four-star prospect. Still, the Wolverines seem to be in a good spot right now, and landing a commitment from him would be huge.
