Notre Dame football is loading up a highly-talented 2024 recruiting class, aided by the Fighting Irish's latest commit, Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa. The 4-star linebacker out of Southern California chose Notre Dame over Ohio State and USC football, according to 247Sports.

Viliamu-Asa is the No. 9 linebacker in 247's 2024 rankings. At 6-3, 230 lbs with plus athleticism, he's a versatile linebacker and a heavy hitter in the middle of the field.

Viliamu-Asa was leaning heavily towards Ohio State in the weeks leading up to his decision. However, he leaned into his faith to ease his decision, and decided Notre Dame football was the right program for him.

“It was really close,” Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa told 247. “As you know, I went away with my church youth group this past week and just got home on Friday. Going in to the retreat, I really thought I would be going to Ohio State.”

“This past week, I really sought after God, prayed every day and relied on the Holy Spirt for guidance. Everything kind of came to life for me and I just felt like God was leading me to Notre Dame.”

As a Catholic school, Notre Dame makes sense as the landing spot for Viliamu-Asa.

“I feel like this was the path less traveled. Notre Dame is a hard place to go but that’s what I’m looking for. I think when you look at the culture they’re building now and the type of student-athletes they recruit, that’s who I fit in with. It’s a lot of guys with the same mindset as me so I feel total peace about my decision.”

Notre Dame's 2024 recruiting class ranks No. 9 in the nation. The Irish have 13 four-star commits and 21 total.
