The Tennessee Volunteers are going to be without Todd Kelly this weekend. According to a report by SECCountry, the leading tackler last season for the Vols will not play Saturday at Florida. But wait, it gets even worse, as the senior safety may miss the remainder of the season on account of a potential season-ending knee injury.
According to the report, Todd Kelly had an MRI on his knee on Thursday. Apparently that knee isn't holding up so well, showing damage that will sideline him for at least this weekend.
It is incredibly important to note that the safety plans on getting a second opinion before going under the knife. As it stands right now, at least of this writing, Kelly will ONLY for sure miss the Florida game.
He originally sustained the injury in 2016 during fall camp.

According to the report, Todd Kelly nor the Tennessee coaching staff realized the potential severity of the knee issue at any point last season. In fact, it seems that the diagnosis of Kelly's knee was as shocking as it was disappointing to all involved.
It will be interesting to see how the Vols attempt to overcome this. Losing someone as productive on the field as Kelly is a big hurdle to overcome.
More importantly than any of that, here is to hoping Kelly's injury isn't as bad as originally projected, or he at least makes the best recover possible given the circumstances.
