The Brooklyn Nets lost their eighth straight game against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, and big man Blake Griffin couldn't help but be worried.
After the Nets' 124-104 blowout loss to the Nuggets, Griffin shared his thoughts about their slump in his postgame media availability. When asked about how worried he is of the recent string of ugly losses, the former All-Star didn't hold back and admitted his concern level is “very high.”
"Umm, very high."
Blake Griffin was asked what his concern level after 8 straight losses was.

With both James Harden and Kevin Durant sideline due to injuries, Kyrie Irving was left as the lone member of the Big 3 tasked to carry the load. Blake Griffin himself started and played well, but their efforts were not enough to counter the triple-double production of reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic.
Irving had a double-double of 27 points and 11 assists while Griffin finished with 19 points and four rebounds. On the other hand, Patty Mills scored 14 while rookie Cameron Thomas finished with 20.
Griffin understands that they are basically missing their starting unit, but he doesn't want the Nets to use it as an excuse for their horrible play. They didn't compete at all, which makes the situation even worse.
“I mean every team needs health, every team needs their best players. I don't think that's not a secret. Not having KD, not having James, not having LaMarcus, not having Joe, I mean you have four starters out? That's obviously a problem. But that's not an excuse, nobody still likes losing…. we just gotta keep fighting,” Griffin told Dave Early of ClutchPoints.
The Nets' slump has them falling seventh in the East with a 29-24 record–far from their dominant start when they were the top seed in the conference. Hopefully, though, they can turn things around and get out of the play-in positions and fight for the playoff spots instead.
