The Brooklyn Nets' Kevin Durant-Kyrie Irving era is coming to a messy end. Amid all the chaos, KD has decided he has had enough and has announced his intentions to be traded. It's a wild end to an era that was never able to get off the ground running properly.

It's easy to imagine Nets owner Joe Tsai freaking out over the possibility of losing both his stars on the same year. However, Brian Windhorst implied that that may not be the case. According to Windhorst, Tsai and the rest of the front office lost faith in this project. He would go on to insinuate that the front office is breathing a sign of relief after Kevin Durant's trade request. (via ESPN's Get Up)

On paper, Durant and Irving's talent is undeniable. When they were healthy, the Nets duo was arguably the best one-two punch in the league. However, that was the problem: they were almost never healthy. Whether it's Durant's nagging injuries or Irving missing time due to his unvaccinated status, the two just never played that many games together.

The two's off-court antics also didn't help matters. Kyrie's reputation as a toxic locker room presence continued in Brooklyn. His cryptic comments to the media and on social media rubbed many people the wrong way. It was a massive headache for both Nets fans and the front office.

At the very least, Durant's trade request allows the Nets to reset a bit. Regardless, this KD-Kyrie experiment has been a complete failure, one that the front office seems eager to throw out of the window as soon as possible.
