Brooklyn Nets starting point guard D'Angelo Russell says he's winning the 2019 Most Improved Player of the Year award.

Russell doesn't care who the other candidates are, as the lefty has his swagger back and isn't going to let anyone get in the way of him winning the award this season.

“I'm gonna win that s–t,” Russell told Anthony Puccio of SNY. “Watch. Put it on record. I'm gonna win it. I'm telling you, I'm winning it! I don't care who else is on that list. I'm winning it, believe it.”

D'Angelo Russell made his first All-Star team this season and has established himself as one of the best young players in the NBA.

Entering Monday, he is averaging 20.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game. The 23-year-old is shooting 43.5 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from beyond the arc and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line.

More importantly, Russell is leading the Nets to wins. Brooklyn is 32-33 on the season, which is good for seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings.

The Nets are trying to make the playoffs for the first time since 2015, and Russell is going to do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Russell will become a restricted free agent this summer and is surely going to get paid handsomely.
