Having spent the past few weeks with new team recruit Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Joe Harris appears to already have quite an admiration for his new teammate. Harris had nothing but good things to say about Irving, even going as far as comparing him to Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

“He’s sort of like LeBron in the sense that people that play with him, he just raises their game so much,” said Harris, via Nick Friar of USA Sports Today. “And that’s when you know you have an exceptional player when he makes everybody else that much better around him.”

That's some high praise from Harris right there. It is worth noting that reigning NBA All-Star Three-Point Shootout Winner was actually teammates with both Irving and James during Harris' stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Harris spent the first two seasons of his career with the Cavs, playing alongside Kyrie and LeBron, so it can be said that he is a bit of an authority in this matter.

Harris went on to explain why he considers Irving to be such a special player. According to Harris, having the six-time All-Star point guard on his team just makes things easier for everyone else.

“He just makes the game that much easy, honestly,” added Harris. “And a lot of it is because he is so good offensively, just being able to create for himself and his teammates. There’s going to be a lot of open opportunities just because everybody has to be so cognicent of him constantly.”

Irving is expected to be the talisman for Brooklyn this coming campaign, and aside from his unquestionable skills on the basketball court, he will need to prove that he is fully capable of leading a young and talented team. Based on Harris' statement here, Kyrie appears to have already gotten on the good side of his new teammates, so that's definitely a great start in that regard.
