Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant doesn't want to hear any form of disrespect to the Detroit Pistons.

After securing a hard-fought 130-123 win over the Pistons on Tuesday, Durant was asked about his thoughts on allowing a “team like Detroit” to score 123 on them. It appeared the Nets star didn't like the phrasing at all–which seemed disrespectful to the young squad–and asked back to the reporter what he means by that. KD went on to defend the Motor City franchise and reminded everyone that they are playing really well in the past few weeks.

“What you mean a team like Detroit?” Durant responded, per Dave Early of ClutchPoints. “I mean they been playing solid the last two weeks though. … They still got pros over there and tonight they made shots.”

True enough, the 20-56 Pistons are one of the worst teams in the NBA this 2021-22. However, their record doesn't really tell the whole story. They have shown flashes of brilliance, with their last three losses (excluding the Nets defeat) being decided by four points or less.

As Kevin Durant said, the Pistons are a gritty team with a lot of young talent at their disposal. With that said, it certainly seems wrong to underestimate them because of their record.

Of course, that doesn't mean the Nets don't have a problem defensively. It has been a major issue for them since last season, and it doesn't look like they made huge strides in that department this campaign. However, that is a different discussion compared to talking about the Pistons and their offense.
