The Brooklyn Nets had their season end much earlier than expected. Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and the rest of the squad entered the season as one of the odds-on favorites to win it all. Instead, they start their offseason early without even registering a single win in the playoffs.

Durant will get many more cracks with the Nets though as he signed a super max extension to stay on with the team up until the 2025-26 season. Kyrie Irving, however, has a player option for next season and has yet to sign an extension after what was a rather controversial year off the court.

Kevin Durant was asked about his desire to play more seasons alongside Kyrie Irving. The Nets star didn't hesitate with his response. To him, their bond as people goes beyond the confines of a basketball court.

Via Yahoo Sports:

“Of course,” Durant said. “I would love for him to play more. Life is way more important to me than that. I can’t be pissed off. I can’t end the friendship based on something like that. Our friendship is based off who we are as human beings. The basketball adds to it. If we don’t get along on the basketball court, we can easily talk it out as friends.”

KD asserted that he never took Kyrie Irving missing Nets games personally. He'd miss his basketball presence, but nothing more than that.

“I would be mad after a game, not having him out there,” Durant told Yahoo Sports. “Being triple-teamed or whatever, like Kai would definitely help tonight, but [mad at] him individually? Nah.”

The Brooklyn Nets have a long season ahead of them, much longer than they previously anticipated. But it looks like the two stars are there to stay.
