Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Thursday that Kyrie Irving is now basically on his way out of the Brooklyn Nets. Contract extension talks have not been productive at all, and at this point, it appears that the seven-time All-Star has already made up his mind about jumping ship.

ESPN's NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski has now doubled down on reports pertaining to how unfruitful discussions have been between the Nets and Kyrie in terms of a contract extension. Simply put, both parties just aren't on the same page:

“Listen, people try to gain leverage. If you're Kyrie Irving, you're trying to go get the Nets to give you a longer-term deal with more guaranteed money than they want to give,” Woj said (h/t Paul Kasabian of Bleacher Report). “The Nets are trying to go in the other direction—shorter deal, incentivized, because he just hasn't been on the floor as much as they'd like the couple years.

“This is getting acrimonious, and I think that's the concern when you look at not just Kyrie Irving's future in Brooklyn, but Kevin Durant's future and whether they can hold this thing together right now.”

It appears that talks are now reaching their tipping point. It doesn't sound like this is going to get resolved anytime soon, and it feels like it's now only a matter of time before the Nets announce a deal that will see Kyrie make his Brooklyn exit.
