Kyrie Irving, take a bow. The mercurial point guard for the Brooklyn Nets just reminded us he's still one of the most potent scorers in the game.
Kyrie Irving poured in 60 points against the Orlando Magic, breaking the Nets franchise record of 57 set by Deron Williams back in 2012.

All things considered, Kyrie Irving actually slowed down in the second half. He scored 19 points, which would be impressive on most other nights. But after a first half where he scored 41, the Nets star had people thinking 70, maybe even 80? Was Wilt's record potentially in reach? LeBron James clearly wanted his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate to shoot for whatever he could get.
41 for Kyrie on 14-19??? 🔥🔥pic.twitter.com/ickoDPnnYO

However, the Orlando Magic simply could not keep up their end of the bargain as the game turned far too lopsided for it to be justifiable to keep Kyrie Irving on the court. The Nets led by as much as 44 points on the evening, never trailing for even a second.
Even then, Kyrie Irving still played in the start of the fourth quarter in order to chase history. The Nets star made sure to make it quick to avoid any awkwardness with head coach Steve Nash. He entered the period with 51 points. He needed just 3:28 to get his final nine points for a nice, round 60-piece. He went 3-of-4 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line in that span, indicative of just how highly combustible he was throughout the entire night.
This comes just one game after Kevin Durant threatened the record himself as he dropped 53 in the Nets' last game against their crosstown rival New York Knicks. And just three games ago, Kyrie Irving poured in 50 points in another night to remember against the Charlotte Hornets.
When your team has two scorers of this magnitude in Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, you're capable of beating anybody.
