Joe Tsai, the billionaire owner of the Brooklyn Nets, recently spoke out on Kyrie Irving and how he feels about the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination drama.

The Nets owner also took aim at the droves of fans who protested outside of Barclays Center in support of Irving's stance prior to the team's home opener.

Via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN:

“I just think that it's cavalier for people to hijack something like this when life and death is at stake,” the Brooklyn Nets owner said. “People shouldn't make it into a political issue. So when you see protestors, they're definitely making a political statement. These guys are not basketball fans. They could care less whether someone is on the court playing or not.

“They're hijacking the issue, but it's dangerous because we have a life-and-death situation. The fact is, if you are not vaccinated and you catch COVID, you have a much higher probability of getting very, very sick and end up in the ICU and possibly die. That's the consequence.”

Tsai has also been adamant in his stance that Kyrie Irving must get vaccinated, not just for himself, but for the sake of the entire team. He admits he hasn't spoken to the Nets guard ever since their decision not to let him play and participate in road games, but his desire to get his star back on the court is clearly palpable.

While Joe Tsai respects Kyrie Irving's decision, he also stands firm on his own in that mere belief shouldn't be a driving factor in one's choice to get vaccinated or not.

“I don't think it's a matter of belief,” said Tsai, one of the co-founders, board of directors member and executive vice chairman of Alibaba Group. “I think it's a matter of fact. It's science.

The Nets still have two of the best players on the planet in Kevin Durant and James Harden. But so far this season, they're clearly missing their enigmatic third star.
