Kyrie Irving will make Nets debut vs. Lakers in China

Nets, Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving will make his Brooklyn Nets debut on Oct. 10 against the Los Angeles Lakers in China.

Irving, who suffered a facial fracture after taking an elbow to the head in a scrimmage, will wear a mask.

Irving has played with a mask before. Nets fans are looking forward to seeing “masked Kyrie” in a Brooklyn uniform.

Irving signed a four-year deal with the Nets this offseason. He’s the best player on the team while two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant recovers from his Achilles tear. Durant will miss the entire 2019-20 season recovering from his Achilles injury, so Brooklyn will go as far as Irving can take them.

Irving has one of the best handles of all-time and is an elite finisher at the rim. He averaged 23.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.9 assists last season for the Boston Celtics while shooting 48.7 percent from the field, 40.1 percent from beyond the arc and 87.3 percent from the free-throw line.

A six-time All-Star and NBA champion with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, Irving grew up a Nets fan while living in New Jersey. Brooklyn is excited to watch Irving lead the Nets this upcoming season in a wide-open Eastern Conference.

DeAndre Jordan, Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert, Joe Harris and Jarrett Allen will have to step up their games with Durant out for the Nets to make a deep postseason run.
