If you haven't heard already, Kyrie Irving does not take to trash talk kindly. The Brooklyn Nets star was jeered heavily by the Boston Celtics crowd during game one of the series. During the entire game, Irving was visibly heated, firing back at the Boston faithful with his own comebacks and middle fingers.

The NBA, of course, doesn't take too kindly to their players spewing obscenities on the court and during post-game interviews. Just ask Patrick Beverley how his legendary NSFW rant went just a few days ago. However, Kyrie Irving could get a lot more punishment from the league after his interactions with Celtics fans. Nick Friedell explains how the NBA could punish the Nets star in the tweet below.

“The max the NBA can [fine] Kyrie is 50K, but it will be interesting to see how they view Sunday. There were 4 separate incidents. The 1st middle finger, the 2nd pair of middle fingers, profanity at fans near locker room and postgame profanity in press conference.”

The maximum fine the NBA can give to a player for “obscene gestures” is $50,000. A hefty sum for most people, but it's almost pocket change for players of the Nets' star caliber. However, there were four observed incidents of Kyrie's profanity on Sunday night. Therefore, it's possible that Irving will be lobbed four individual fines going up to $50,000.

Kyrie's fines will hinge on the NBA's ruling on whether these incidents are separate incidents or part of one big incident. It's possible that the two “birds” he gave on the court are counted as one, while the postgame rant and cursing at fans postgame are two separate incidents. We will keep you updated on the Nets star's punishment.
