The Brooklyn Nets have waived former No. 1 pick Anthony Bennett and signed forward Quincy Acy to a 10-day contract, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Bennett was selected first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2013 and shortly traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves the following season in a swap for All-Star forward Kevin Love.
He's played in four different teams (Cavaliers, Timberwolves, Raptors, Nets) through his three-and-some-change seasons in the NBA, making this likely the length of his stint in the NBA.
Bennett averaged five points and 3.4 rebounds through 23 games in Brooklyn, shooting 41.3 percent from the field and 27.1 percent from deep.
The Nets were Bennett's best chance to showcase his abilities as it is a team without much talent at all, making it the ideal launching pad for a player many were waiting to label a bust.
Acy, on the other hand, has made his living in the NBA as a rugged rebounder and energy guy off the bench. He's been playing for the D-League's Texas Legends since his release from the Dallas Mavericks in Nov. 17, according to Stein.
