Argentine soccer icon Diego Maradona may have passed away, but Neymar, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Kylian Mbappe vowed to keep his legacy alive.

On Wednesday, the sports community was dealt a shock after news of Maradona's death broke out. According to reports, the soccer superstar died due to cardiac arrest while in his home in Argentina. The shocking news came just weeks after he had to undergo brain surgery.

The whole world mourned his passing, with the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and other sports legends paying their respect to the late icon.

As for Neymar, Ibrahimovic and Mbappe, they all took to social media to share inspiring messages about Maradona and the legacy he has left to the sports world. Zlatan called Maradona an “immortal” who “will live forever and ever.”

“Maradona is not dead he is immortal. God gave the world the best gifted football player of all times. He will live forever and ever,” Ibra wrote on Instagram.

On the other hand, Mbappe thanked the Argentine legend for his contributions to the sport he loves. The Paris Saint-Germain forward also expressed how the year 2020 sucks following the slew of deaths of several sports icons.

“RIP Legend. You will stay in the history of football forever. Thanks you for all the pleasure you gave to the whole world,” the youngster said on IG.

Neymar, for his part, echoed the same sentiment as Mbappe and showed his appreciation and admiration for Diego Maradona. Along with his message is a photo of Maradona lifting the World Cup trophy.

 

Following his passing, Argentina declared a three-day national mourning to commemorate the late soccer player's life.
