“The process” can be used for more than just Philadelphia 76ers basketball.

When prospects leave the college ranks for the league that plays for pay, the NBA “process” suddenly appears like small potatoes. From scouting attributes on the field to figuring out what type of personality the kid has to hiring private investigators to see what brand-name cereal he eats, these teams do anything and everything possible to get that info. Then meetings take place.

For Baker Mayfield, three such arrangements have been scheduled to be executed in the coming weeks.

The 2017 Heisman Trophy Winner told Robert Klemko of SI.com that he's currently awaiting three scheduled meetings, one apiece with the New York Jets, Giants and Cleveland Browns, the very same organization for which Mayfield boldly proclaimed he was the right guy to lead the franchise out of its misery (in so many words).

The Jets and Browns will also have Mayfield perform a privately closed workout at the University of Oklahoma.

Of course, Mayfield is one of four right-arms ready to hear their names called by Roger Goodell on the night of April 26. All four are expected to also be chosen within the top 10 (and at the very least, top 20 or 25 depending on circumstance).

Unlike his main competition, Josh Allen, Mayfield suffers from a lack of prototypical size while battling against spread offense discrimination at the NFL level. Also unlike Allen out of Wyoming, Mayfield put forth crazy numbers in college. In 2017, he finished 4,627 yards and 43 touchdowns through the air to just six interceptions.
