Former NFL star and Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre had high praise for presumptive No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow.

Favre said Burrow's dominance at LSU during their 2019 national championship season was unprecedented, adding Burrow is essentially a “can't-miss” prospect solely based on his performance in college (via Chris Roling of USA TODAY):

“Well, I think Joe Burrow would deserve to be the first pick in the draft if you just strictly base it off of his performance this past year. From a team standpoint, I don’t think we ever have seen a team dominate the way they dominated, and obviously he was the leader of that team.”

“I think Joe Burrow is as close to a ‘can’t miss’ as you can possibly get based on his performance.”

Burrow was not considered the top prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft at the start of the 2019 season, but he quickly changed that narrative as he led the Tigers to the national title.

The Athens, Ohio native set the NCAA record in passing touchdowns (60) while also leading the NCAA in passing yards (5,671), pass completions (402), completion percentage (76.3) and adjusted passing yards per attempt (12.5), among a host of other statistics.

There are not a whole lot of parallels to be drawn between Favre and Burrow.

Whereas Favre was the big-armed, risk-taking guy who ranks first in terms of passes intercepted, Burrow is the poised and savvy prospect who is being lauded for his pocket presence and overall awareness.

Despite their stylistic differences, however, Favre sees a potential star in Burrow.
