Former Iowa tight end TJ Hockenson is looking like a good prospect as the NFL draft approaches, and is earning comparisons to New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski.

While it's great that Hockenson is being compared to one of the greatest players in the league, his own merits are worthy of note, too.

According to CBS Sports, many sportswriters believe that Hockenson could find himself playing with the New York Jets when the draft comes to a close.

Chris Trapasso, a writer for the outlet, revealed as much in his mock draft picks just a few days ago.

“The Jets have the second-most cap space in the NFL (behind the Colts) and many holes to fill. Hockenson would be a tantalizing option. Yes, Chris Herndon had a solid rookie season, but two good tight ends are better than one good tight end. New York wanted to move back to regain some of the picks it lost in the ascension to get Sam Darnold in 2018. The Jets receive Washington's 2020 first-round pick and a fifth-round selection in 2019.”

TJ Hockenson has also received a lot of awards back in his college days, making him a very desirable player to go pro. At just 19, he received the John Mackey Award as the nation's top tight end in college football.

He was named first-team All-Big Ten at tight end by the media voters, and second-team behind Fant by the coaches. He also won the Big Ten's tight end of the year award, the Kwalick–Clark Award.

TJ Hockenson left school early to declare for the NFL Draft.
