Seemingly out of nowhere, the Dallas Cowboys swooped in and signed Andy Dalton to a one-year deal on Saturday. Less than 24 hours after the news surfaced, former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb is taking issue with the Dalton signing.

So far this offseason, there have been a few notable quarterbacks available in free agency. Of course, Tom Brady and Philip Rivers didn't take long to find new teams in free agency. Now the Cowboys have an insurance policy under center.

It took over a month for Jameis Winston to sign with a new team and Cam Newton remains in free agency. On the other hand, it took just a couple of days for Dalton to sign with the Cowboys following his release from the Cincinnati Bengals.

Without a doubt, Newton is a victim of the unusual circumstances this offseason, with teams unable to conduct a proper physical for him. In addition, Winston has turnover issues, causing teams to stray away from him in free agency. Still, at 26 years old, Winston is worth more than Dalton, but their new contracts say differently after the Cowboys inked Dalton to a big contract.

With that being said, it's not like Dalton is some All-Pro quarterback that became available on the open market. Above all, Dalton signed with a team — the Cowboys — that has refused to give Dak Prescott a feasible long-term extension.

Given that, it's understandable to see McNabb and others question Dalton being signed as if he's a valuable starter. It has been quite an interesting offseason for quarterbacks, with a ton of them joining new teams. While McNabb has a legitimate gripe with Dalton's signing as a member of the Cowboys, the one person who is likely more upset is Prescott himself.

The Cowboys have to wrestle with how they have handled this situation.
