The NFL is cracking down on COVID-19 protocols and that branches out even to the broadcasters.

CBS Sports color commentator Tony Romo will not be allowed to attend his job due to COVID-19 related reasons and will be replaced by Boomer Esiason, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

This isn't the end of the world for NFL viewers, but it just goes to show you the severity of COVID-19.

Even as the vaccines are being distributed to the public, the coronavirus continues to wreak havoc across the globe and nobody is immune. Not athletes, not owners, and not even beloved quarterback-turned-broadcaster Romo.

The NFL has been a pioneer when it comes to sports being played while the coronavirus is still at large. Plenty of precautions have been made for every team, and protocols have been put in place to ensure the team's safety. It hasn't been perfect, but it's been a great example of what to expect for other sports leagues moving forward.

Having Boomer Esiason replace Romo isn't the end of the world either. Although most people would prefer Romo, Boomer is a pretty solid replacement.

Esiason has been a broadcaster for 18, going on 19, years for CBS. His resume speaks for itself as an announcer, never mind a football player. The 14-year professional is one of the best quarterbacks to ever hit an NFL field.

If that wasn't enough credentials for you, Boomer was also inducted into the New York State's Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. We are in good hands people.

Hopefully, Tony Romo is OK, but for now, Boomer can get the job done on CBS just fine.
