Every single thing about the NFL's sudden one-day audition for free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been suspicious due to a number of reasons. There's been a general air of mistrust from Kaepernick's side of the camp.

And now, Nike fired another shot towards the league as they're trying to make them retract a statement about them being in the workout and using footage of the Kaepernick tryout for their own purposes.

Kevin Draper first broke the news that the sports apparel giant was looking for the league to rescind their statement about them trying to use Kaepernick's tryout footage.

Charles Robinson confirmed the news after crosschecking with his sources who have first-hand information on how the tryout went down. He reported that there were no Nike representatives during the 40-minute tryout the 32-year-old held at a Riverdale, GA high school instead of the Atlanta Falcons training facility.

Furthermore, the league claimed in a long statement that they were disappointed with how the entire process went down.

“Twenty-five clubs were present for the workout, and all 32 clubs, their head coaches, general managers and other personnel executives would have received video footage of the interview and workout, shot by the Atlanta Falcons video crew,” the NFL said in a statement, via CNN.

Kaepernick's reps responded, saying that the league didn't provide a legitimate and transparent avenue for him to showcase that he's still got it. During his 40-minute showcase, he got to show fans and the six scouts who followed to his location that he's still got it.

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback didn't make his NFL return any easier with what he pulled. However, he will not allow the league to take control of the narrative, and Nike is siding with him the same way they did during his controversial ad campaign for them.
