The NFL has proven once again it's not a dying brand with more people tuning in to watch the Thursday night game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers.

The Packers/Eagles game drew 18 percent more viewership over the Thursday night Week 4 matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Rams last season, via Pro Football Talk.

Via FOX Sports P.R., the Eagles-Packers game generated an overnight rating of 12, with a share of 23.6. Last year’s game in the same window attracted a 10.7 and 19, respectively. The numbers from Thursday night mean that 12 percent of homes with TVs watched last night’s game, and that 23.6 percent of homes with TVs that actually had the TVs turned on were watching the game.

A big reason for the big boost is this was the first Thursday Night Football game of the year broadcast on Fox. The first three games of the year were only broadcast on NFL Network, but this game was seen on both channels.

Everyone who tuned into Thursday night's game was treated to quite the game between Carson Wentz and Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers had a chance to tie the game up late but threw an interception off a tipped pass that ended any chances of coming away with a win. Up until the last interception Rodgers had his best game of the season completing 34 of his 53 passes for 422 yards and two touchdowns.

Fans seem to love good quarterback battles, and next Thursday should be another good one with the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks going head to head.
